The store is blooming with new work by Brooke Fischer. I love Brooke's work and we have carried her art in the past but I think these are my all time favorites! We are celebrating with an Open House on Saturday Feb 11 from 5:00-8:00PM so if you are the area, come on by for a drink and chat!

Fun Matchup
Spotted a fun food and fashion pairing post on Miss Moss that just begged for interiors to be added so I picked some matches off House to Home.

Happy Friday
Wishing you a happy Friday with drawings by ceramicist, Melanie Knox that we hung in the shop today. Her smoochy fishy kisses are a sweet reminder that Valentine's Day looms.
Friday's Fabulous: Donna Karan
Donna Karan is a designer, creator, business woman and philanthropist. The design house she started in 1984 with her husband is now an empire with multiple lines and even more multiple retail stores. Her care for the world around her is even more impressive. In 2007, she founded Urban Zen: "I have founded the Urban Zen initiative to create a working structure for advancing wellness, preserving culture and empowering children. These are causes that mean the world to me."
I love, love, love her Spring collection and even more so because it was shot in Haiti. An extension of the work that is being done there by Urban Zen, the shoot provided employment for a crew of 70. These photographs were taken there.

Bark
I walked the dog along the river this morning. Most of the time it's a concrete tube with some water in the middle. It really only resembles what is normally called a river when it rains. The bark on a gum tree (eucalyptus) and a paint run down a concrete wall caught my eye. It was a hazy morning and the color (or lack of) was beautifully mirrored in the pattern on the bark and wall.
