Jill Ricci

Talking about her stunning work, Jill Ricci says: "One of the most arresting visuals for me is an old wall layered with papers, graffiti and text- our modern hieroglyphics. I try to re-create this beauty in my work, the layers of time and decay are what interest me." My vote would be that she more than succeeds in recreating the layering in found objects in absolutely golden glowing patchwork 'quilts'.   Love it!

My Japan Photography

My Japan is a charity photographic exhibition established after the tsunami last year.    Anyone can upload photographs that demonstrate what Japan means to them, and anyone can vote on the photos that will participate in exhibitions and be sold to raise money.   I came across this fabulous project in Elle Decoration SA.

Year Of The Dragon

Beautiful dragons in the LACMA collection.  I am inspired by the the combo of blues, red and gold in the plate.

The dragon art could be translated to the stunning room featured on The Color Field.

Fabulous Stamps

Loving these old Swiss stamps featured on Brain Pickings I am fascinated by the cycles that we see in design as trends come and go.  These stamps are from the 40s and 50s but if you take away the dates, they look like a lot of the design style and content that is popular at the moment.

Reading And Daydreams

I found this lovely quote and picture on  I am An Age Old Tree over the weekend.  So appropriate as I decided that I wanted to read more this year and a trip to the book store on New Years Day resulted in a lovely pile of bedside books.  It's a bit of everything: classic, new, fiction and non-fiction.  I have started reading Gertrude Stein's The Autobiography of Alice B Toklas . . . because the humor inherent in writing someone else's autobiography that includes yourself as a third person appealed. . . because I saw Midnight in Paris over the holidays and fell down a rabbit hole to Paris in the 1920s that I don't want to leave. . . and because I loved reading Paris was a Woman when I was living on the Left Bank.

Stunning Color

The rich colors and varied patinas in these fabulous pictures taken in Mongolia make me torn between packing my bags to visit and redoing my living room in these luscious hues and textures. Via Marie Claire Italia.

Saturday

It is feeling a bit like winter today in LA.   Kinda nice to put on a sweater for a change, as we have been blessed with stunning warm sunshine for weeks now.   Loving this photo of Leo by the talented Frank Bruynbroek that sits inquisitively over my shoulder every day. Wishing you a great weekend.

Little gems like this lunch spot in the small coastal town of Paternoster in South Africa make the world a better place.  This Elle Decoration team lunch looks like a deliciously fun time.

Inspiration: Woven Frames and Shapes

Love the architectural feel of lampshades and woven fabrics.   Stumbled across the stunning fashion show image from Brazil which reminded me of the Knoll Platner tables and chairs that have always been a huge favorite of mine, and one of my whimsy lampshades.  Enjoy!
