Ready For The Holidays

We spent a long day yesterday getting the shop ready for the holidays and I am thrilled with the result.  The store is full of luscious color and lots of great goodies and gifts.   I love how the wreaths we made look hanging all over the mantel.

Europe in Shades of Purple

I am loving the lovely luscious myriad shades of purple in recent features in Vogue Living and Elle Decor.   In Vogue Living, artistic director of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, Jeff Leatham creates a stunning floral display with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop.   In Elle Decor the Brussels home of Anne-Marie Midy and Jorge Almada is featured. 

Olympic 2012 Posters

Twelve of the UK’s leading artists have created striking posters for the Olympic and Paralympic Games as part of the London 2012 Festival.  Most of them are limited edition and can be purchased here.  My favorites are these two.

Friday's Fabulous: Liz Sherman

Liz Sherman's apartment is featured in the latest issue of Elle Decor.  The antiques dealer and owner of a furniture store in NY, Sherman who is in her 70s is quoted talking about the furniture and interesting objects in her life: “If I have to explain it, you’ve lost me,” Sherman admits with a laugh. “I don’t decorate. I see objects and furniture as shapes, lines, and forms,” she says.

I love that she surrounds herself with things she loves or finds interesting - and that there is plenty of fabulous art on her walls.  She is definitely a testament to great interesting style being ageless.

Pumpkin Jam

I fell in love with the photo and am sure that this jam is totally delicious.   It's raining here in LA and because we are so spoiled with amazing weather, a little bit of water makes us all want to stay home.  Some good coffee, freshly baked bread and this yummy pumpkin and cinnamon jam combined with a good book and a sofa would make this a perfect morning.  The recipe and photo are on Le Voyage Creatif 

Amy Casey

As someone who has spent much of her life living in cities, I am intrigued by Amy Casey's paintings that seem to float in the sky.  In her statement, she says: "Cities are fascinating creatures that I am just beginning to scratch the surface of.  The work and organization that goes into a city's creation and evolution, the constant shifting and adaptions and the sometimes hidden history of these changes, and a city's dependence on civilian cooperation are things l like to think about."

Festival of Lights

It's Diwali time in India.  I can't believe it was a year ago that my sister and I were in India in the midst of the festivities and celebrations.   It's all about family and friends, streets that glitter, the best and brightest saris, piles of marigolds, tons of sweets, and endless fireworks at night.  What a joyful time!
