I spent some time this morning exploring Marie Claire Maison's website.  Here's some of the rooms I liked.  They are a blend of sophisticated and casual, new and old, with color, whimsy and humor sprinkled around.

Friday's Fabulous Woman : Lena Horne

Singer, actress, civil rights advocate and dancer, the unique, talented and beautiful Lena Horne died this week at the age of 92.  Can't think of a nicer way to end the week than a good dose of her gorgeous voice singing Summertime.  The photograph immediately below was taken on her 91st birthday!

I went shopping yesterday and this is what I found.  I especially love the gold yellow 70s theme.  Now to figure out how to reinvent them!

The Possibilities of Wicker

Love the texture and shape of the Spanish pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010.  This organic looking masterpiece is a wicker facade over a steel structure.  Via dezeen.

Cake Crazy

Crazy, tacky, wonderful cakes by Amy Stevens.  According to her statement, a failed attempt to learn to decorate cakes ala Martha Stewart ended up in a rebellion and exploration of the grotesque and amazing.  I love her photographs!  Via Erin Loechner of DesignforMankind.
