Karin Miller
Spotted the wonderful pattern-filled work of South African artist, Karin Miller on the cover of Good Taste magazine this week. Equal parts whimsical humor and vivid human and social commentary, she describes her work as “a visual play between beauty and tragedy, rhythm and interruption – searching for a sense of order in the overwhelming chaos of life."

Shauna Richardson
Stumbled across the amazing work of Shauna Richardson this week. Shauna does "crochetdermy" ie she sculpts and crochets incredibly detailed life size animals. I love her photographs of the animals out at night in an urban landscape.

Japanese Fabric
Beautiful simplicity in Amy Katoh's Mottainai exhibition at the Fukagawa bansho gallery. Amy explains: "The concept of mottainai underlies Japanese life, in the past and also today - use anything carefully, reuse it, or don't use it all, save it, it is too good to use. This respect for the intrinsic value of things or people or situations or events reflects the Japanese use of all materials. Frugal, resourceful, ingenious, nothing is thrown away, everything is used, and used sparingly. There is nothing whose spirit is not honored."

Patchwork Beauty
I pinned these two pictures the other day within minutes of each other and was struck by the similar colors and patchwork beauty in both. Artwork by Melinda Tidwell and Korean hand stitched wrapping cloth at Sri.
