Our pillows have popped up in a couple of places recently.
On the July cover of Cooking with Paula Deen if you close one eye, you'll see our yellow gloria pillow in the bottom left and then switch eyes and you will see the crimson grande circles peeping out bottom right:) Our quilt pillow is also be found in the issue hiding behind a bowl of yumminess but I thought I would save you squinting at that so I haven't posted it.
In July issue of Real Simple mag, our crimson/putty stripe pillow is in a lovely article on decorating with stripes.
I knew that a whole heap of our pillows were scattered around the set of the movie, Get Him to the Greek, and finally got to see a picture of them keeping Russell Brand company on a couch:)

@ Dwell on Design
The talented cabinet maker, John McDonald is launching a new line -- semihandmade -- at the Dwell on Design show this weekend in LA. The new line offers fantastic custom fronts and finishes to standard cabinets from big box companies. He used the field in wasabi tiles from the Henry Road for Modwalls line in his display. I am so excited at how good they look! And the wood John used on the cabinets is just stunning!

Friday's Fabulous Woman : Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie is definitely someone who people seem to either love or hate. In parts, talented, beautiful, mercurial and outrageous, she is never boring. The work she does to keep the spotlight on refugees is singularly impressive. World Refugee Day was last weekend and I thought this would be a good time to remind myself how incredibly lucky and blessed I am. Image source: werievents.

Art on a Dish
Not sure how I feel about having a tiger on my balcony but I love the idea of reinventing an eyesore. Satellite dish art in Germany by Daniel Knipping.

Store Styling
I played store dominoes with my sister yesterday. That is the retail game that happens whether you like it or not when you move one thing. That results in moving another and so the game goes. Have been meaning to move the table linens for the longest time and am very happy with the result. A couple of pics of new arrangements.
Sharpening the Shears
Between our studio and the store, we have a huge pile of scissors! On Monday morning June 28, Gary is coming by our Studio City store to sharpen our heap, so we thought we would let you all know, as everyone needs a bit of sharpening occasionally.
If you are in LA and have any scissors, knives or shears that need sharpening please drop them off at the store anytime before Monday. Prices range dependent on size between $3 and $6. Fee needs to be paid in cash in advance.

Vogue Living
Vogue Living Australia is one of my favorite interior and design magazines. The latest issue came in the mail yesterday making Vinnie, the mailman who delivers to our store, the man of my day! Was happy to spot this great interview with the Editor in Chief, David Clark on The Design Files today.

Friday's Fabulous Woman: Arundhati Roy
Arundhati Roy is an Indian novelist, storyteller and political commentator. Smart and passionate, she is the author of one of my all time favorite books, The God of Smaller Things. From the first sentence, she weaves words into fascinating color saturated pictures. I can't recommend it highly enough. Just thinking about it, makes me want to read it again.
The first paragraph of the book:
"May in Ayemenem is a hot, brooding month. The days are long and humid. The river shrinks and black crows gorge on bright mangos in still, dustgreen trees. Red bananas ripen. Jackfruits burst. Dissolute bluebottles hum vacuously in the fruity air. Then they stun themselves against clear windowpanes and die, fatly baffled in the sun."

As seen in O mag
How exciting! Peggy Lipton photographed in O magazine July 2010 wearing the gorgeous Ayala Bar necklace that hangs in our store. Don't you just love the Boule peasant blouse she is wearing!
